Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026. This Privacy Policy describes how Globe Media Times (“Globe Media Times”, “we”, “us”), published by 24World Media, collects, uses, shares and protects information when you visit globemediatimes.com (the “Site”), read our articles, watch embedded videos, or contact us through the Site. It should be read with our Terms of Service and Website Disclaimer. By using the Site you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Site.

1. Who is responsible for your information

The publisher of the Site is 24World Media, trading as Globe Media Times, of 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067, United States. For privacy purposes, the publisher is the party that determines why and how personal information described in this policy is processed. Privacy questions and requests should be sent through the form on our Contact page, selecting “Privacy, legal or copyright”, so that they are routed to the reviewer responsible for privacy matters. We do not publish a direct privacy email address on the Site.

2. Information we collect

(a) Information your device sends automatically. When you request a page, our servers and content-delivery systems receive technical information necessary to deliver and secure that page, which may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, the pages requested, and the date and time of the request. Server and security logs containing this information are kept for the operation, security and troubleshooting of the Site.

(b) Information you submit through the contact form. If you use our Contact form, we collect the name, email address, topic and message you provide, together with the time of submission. Submissions are stored in the Site’s database for review by the newsroom. The form does not create a user account and does not, by itself, subscribe you to anything.

(c) Cookies and similar technologies. The Site uses cookies and similar storage that are strictly necessary for its operation, including security, load-balancing and, for authorised staff who sign in, authentication cookies that keep an editor signed in. If commenting or other interactive features are enabled on a page, the Site may set cookies that remember details you entered so you do not have to enter them again. If analytics or advertising technology that uses cookies is deployed on the Site, it is used only as described in Sections 4 and 5 of this policy, and the categories of cookies in use are those necessary for the Site to function and, where applicable, those used for aggregate measurement and advertising delivery. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site, including staff sign-in and the contact form’s protections, from working.

(d) Embedded third-party content. Some articles embed videos or other content hosted by third parties, such as the official YouTube player. When an embedded player loads, the third-party provider may collect information about your visit, set its own cookies, and process that information under its own privacy policy, whether or not you press play, depending on the provider and your settings. We embed only official-channel material, but we do not control the provider’s data practices.

(e) Information we do not knowingly collect. Reading the Site does not require an account, and public registration is closed. We do not ask readers for payment-card information, government identifiers, precise location, or health information through the Site, and you should not send such information through the contact form.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above for the following purposes: to operate, maintain and secure the Site and to deliver the pages and media you request; to receive, review and respond to contact-form messages, including news tips, correction requests, advertising enquiries and privacy or legal requests; to understand, in aggregate, which sections and articles are read so that we can maintain and improve coverage and site performance; to detect, prevent and investigate abuse, spam, automated misuse and threats to the Site’s security; to comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; and, where advertising is served, to deliver and measure advertising in aggregate as described in Section 5. We do not sell the personal information of readers, and we do not use contact-form messages for unrelated marketing.

4. Analytics and measurement

We may use measurement tools that help us count visits and understand reading patterns in aggregate — for example, which desks are most read and whether pages load correctly on mobile devices. Where such tools are used, we use them to produce statistics about the Site as a whole, not to identify individual readers for advertising profiles, and we do not combine measurement data with contact-form messages to build a profile of an identifiable reader. If a measurement provider processes data on our behalf, it does so under its own terms as our service provider for that measurement purpose.

5. Advertising

The Site is supported by clearly labelled display advertising. Advertisements are the responsibility of the advertiser. We do not provide advertisers with your name, email address or contact-form messages, and advertisers do not receive personal information about identifiable individual readers from us. If third-party advertising technology is used to serve or measure advertisements, that technology may use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver the advertisement and count its delivery, under the provider’s own privacy policy. You may be able to limit interest-based advertising through your browser, device settings, or industry opt-out tools offered in your jurisdiction; doing so does not remove advertising, but may make it less tailored.

6. When we share information

We share information only as necessary for the purposes in this policy: with hosting, security, content-delivery and other technical service providers that process information on our behalf so the Site can function; with measurement or advertising providers, in aggregate or as described in Sections 4 and 5, where those services are in use; when required by law, court order, or lawful request by a competent authority, or to protect the rights, safety and property of the publisher, our staff, readers or the public; and in connection with a reorganisation of the publisher or the Site, in which case information may transfer to the successor publisher subject to this policy or a successor policy of which we give notice on this page. Service providers are authorised to use information only as needed to provide their services to us.

7. Retention

Server and security logs are retained only for as long as needed for operation, security and troubleshooting, and are then deleted or anonymised in the ordinary course of system maintenance. Contact-form submissions are retained for as long as needed to review and respond to the message, to maintain a record of corrections and legal requests, and to comply with legal obligations; submissions that are spam or abusive may be deleted without response. Where a law requires a longer or shorter retention period, that law prevails. We do not retain reader personal information indefinitely for marketing, because we do not conduct reader marketing lists from Site visits.

8. Security

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to a publishing website, including access controls that limit administrative access to authorised staff, authentication for staff accounts, and security monitoring. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for not sending highly sensitive personal information through the contact form. If you believe an unauthorised person has accessed information you sent us, contact us promptly through the Contact form under the privacy topic.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to personal information we hold about you, to request its correction or deletion, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to request a copy in a portable form. Because reading the Site requires no account and we hold reader information principally in the form of any contact-form message you sent and associated technical logs, the most effective way to exercise these rights is to write through the Contact form under “Privacy, legal or copyright”, identifying the message (including the approximate date and the email address you used) so we can locate it. We will verify that the requester is entitled to make the request before disclosing or deleting personal information, and we will respond within the period required by applicable law. Some information may be retained where the law requires or permits it — for example, to maintain the integrity of a published correction record or to defend a legal claim — and in that case we will explain the basis for retention. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority; we ask that you contact us first so we can address the concern directly.

10. Children

The Site is a general news service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in connection with reading the Site. If a parent or guardian believes a child has submitted personal information through the contact form, they should contact us through that form under the privacy topic, and we will delete the submission unless the law requires its retention.

11. International visitors

The Site is published from the United States and is hosted on infrastructure that may process information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. If you visit from another jurisdiction, your information may be transferred to and processed in a country whose data-protection laws differ from yours. By using the Site and submitting information, you acknowledge that transfer for the purposes described in this policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site, the law, or our service providers change. The current version is always published on this page with its “last updated” date. Material changes take effect on publication here; continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acknowledgement of the updated policy. Where the law requires notice or consent for a change, we will comply with that requirement.

13. How this policy applies across the network

Globe Media Times is part of the 24World Media network, whose outlets share publishing technology and standards. Each outlet’s site is governed by its own published privacy policy; this policy governs globemediatimes.com only. Visiting a sister outlet, or following a link to it, takes you to that outlet’s policy for that visit. Shared infrastructure providers that support several outlets process information for each outlet under the same safeguards described here, but contact messages sent to Globe Media Times are reviewed by the Globe Media Times desk and are not used as marketing data for other outlets.

14. Contact

Privacy questions, requests and notices should be sent through the Contact form on our Contact page under “Privacy, legal or copyright”, or by post to Globe Media Times, 24World Media, 1411 N Sterling Ave, Palatine, IL 60067, United States. Please do not send sensitive personal documents by post unless we have asked for them in response to your enquiry.
